Win a trip back in time!

Marlow Warlord grave

Step back 1,300 years and uncover the rich and fascinating world of Anglo-Saxon Buckinghamshire in The Saxons: Three Lives. Three Burials. Three Extraordinary Stories, a major new exhibition at Discover Bucks Museum in Aylesbury.

We are offering Living readers the chance to win a family ticket to this exhibition.

Bringing together rare treasures from the British Museum alongside never-before-seen artefacts from 141 graves discovered in the Wendover Saxon Cemetery, this immersive exhibition offers a remarkable window into early medieval life. At its heart are three extraordinary burial stories: the lavish Princely Burial at Taplow, brimming with elite status and craftsmanship; the Marlow Warlord, whose grave sheds light on leadership and power in the Thames Valley; and the Wendover cemetery itself, a vast archaeological discovery revealing the everyday lives and deaths of a Saxon community.

Through lifelike on-screen characters and engaging displays, visitors are invited to explore how Saxons lived, fought and celebrated. Designed with both families and history enthusiasts in mind, the exhibition combines storytelling with cutting-edge interpretation to bring the past vividly to life.

Running until 1 November, this is an unmissable journey into an age of warriors, treasures and village life.

Sam Mason, CEO of Discover Bucks Museum said: ‘It is incredibly exciting to be putting on this Saxon experience – and on a larger scale than we have ever done before. Working with such influential partners and having had funding support from the Weston Loan Programme with Art Fund, HS2’s Community and Environment Fund and our very own Friends and Patrons organisations, means that we will be able to send visitors back in time, to give a flavour of what life might have been like in 7th and 8th century Buckinghamshire.’
